Mothers for Africa has partnered with, Housing for Haiti out of Los Angeles, CA and in Haiti with Haitian (Non Governmental Organization) Light Path for Haiti. We also, closely work with Professor Colia Clark, from the National Program Director for the International Commission of Inquiry on Haiti Renaissance Collation.
What is happening in Haiti is heartbreaking and the living conditions are deplorable. During our last visit to Haiti we served more than 15,000 pounds of rice, beans, water, medical assistance, psychological help, and prayer for more than 6000 people. Mothers for Africa took pictures of Haitian families and orphans for our new program to sponsor Haitian families. We have assigned 8 sponsors, which include me (President of Mothers for Africa). I am sponsoring a 14 year old boy who is severely malnourished. He was unable to walk to our doctor; sorry to say, his parents did not survive the earthquake.
The Mayor and Police Commissioner from Petit Goave (epic center of the earthquake) stated that they had not seen anyone come into their jurisdiction (3hrs away from Port au Prince) and accomplished what we did, considering all the money that has been donated to Haiti, pockets of Haiti have not receive any relief. Dr. Ignace, President of Light Path for Haiti has purchased land in Haiti for the construction of an orphanage, clinic, trade school and church. Mothers for Africa will be supporting this project.
Many children have been left orphaned and are suffering from malnutrition and skin rashes from lack of clean water. There is no adequate housing for thousands of people left homeless from the earthquake (please see photos of tent cities). Mothers for Africa are working diligently on the ground collectively with Light Path for Haiti to alleviate these problems.
We need your help and support to provide medical treatment and adequate housing for Haitian people. Please join our effort.
Sincerely, President of Mothers for Africa Nehanda Sankofara
